The Dollar that Keeps on Giving

Did you know that money donated to the Mid-Iowa Habitat for Humanity does not get consumed like many other donations? When Habitat builds a house, donated funds are used to purchase materials. Most labor is provided by volunteers and homeowners are required to invest 500 hours of their own “sweat equity” towards the construction of their house. This is set up where the homeowner pays back 100% of the dollars Habitat spent towards constructing the new home.

Homeowners are blessed by receiving affordable housing, workers and donators are blessed from the joy of helping a family in need, and the cycle of giving continues as dollars received from mortgage payments find their way into the next housing project to help a new family for life. Thus, the cycle of sharing in Christ’s love continues!
